Global business leadership differs distinctly from business leadership. While global leaders face the same leadership issues any executive faces, they have the added challenge of having to incorporate them into the cultural norms of one or more different countries. That’s like throwing a major league baseball player into a cricket match or an American football player into a European football game and expecting him to succeed. Different playing fields, different rules, same outcome…to succeed while being bombarded with the complexities inherent in a borderless multicultural world.
Each organization and each executive faces distinct global leadership challenges which cannot be ignored or viewed as obstacles to overcome. Instead, these cultural differences are opportunities to explore; they are resources that enrich the individuals and their organizations, and benefit their clients.
